The gardener and I have been married for ever so many years (vagueness is mandatory here), and this month we had our anniversary. We ate at a wonderful Lithuanian restaurant (I thought it was Ukrainian, but I was wrong). We also decided to choose our own anniversary gift. This is what I chose for myself.

A gorgeous light catcher custom-designed and crafted by Pauline atΒ The Contented Crafter. I wanted something for my office, which is coral and black on ivory. When it arrived last week, I was ecstatic. Such a classy presentation, too. Pauline had the light catcher in a gauzy bag with the top of the piece tied to the bag so that it can just slip out and not be tangled.

I laid it out in a tray because the gardener wanted to hang it himself. (He doesn’t trust me with picture hangers, but the truth…

  1. It has so much excitement there, Pauline! It is magical how you pair all of it together with the one who is receiving your marvelous creations! Luanne is lucky for this gift, one to remember hers and the Gardener’s anniversary. πŸ’“πŸ’“

  2. Wooowee, light and love around! At first glance, I thought it was a tray of Lindt chocolates — my fav — but then I put my glasses on and it’s even more beautiful than I thought! Nice work! You always have the best ideas, Pauline. :0)

  3. How lovely to spread your joy to Luanne’s office. Was it very heavy? It looks really long in her window. I’m still enjoying mine too, in our master bath window. You’ve added so many gorgeous baubles to make it sparkle. What I find fun, is the colour combo’s are seemingly infinite πŸ˜€ I’m really excited to visit your art area and see all your brushes, pens and yummy things there xox 5 days away for me…eeek

    • It is very long and it was the heaviest one I’ve ever sent out, but not the heaviest one I’ve ever made πŸ™‚ I know it is only a few more days and your big adventure will begin! I hope you have a wonderful time in Sydney – I’ll have to watch out for you on FB!! πŸ™‚ ❀ I can't wait to see you standing in my art room!

  4. Wonderful post, have commented over at Luanne’s blog. Dear Pauline, you are so talented and kind and a beautiful spirit. I have been so absent from WP and have missed you so much, but wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for still visiting me at the summerhouse and keeping in contact with me all this time, when I have been so far away. I’ve been a bit lost I think, but climbing back up now. The last year – heck, the last two years – knocked me pretty flat but now I just want to find some stability again and re-connect with my wonderfully generous, loving blogging community, for which I am so grateful. And I am going to spend some time in your shop,as soon as I can (which I have wanted to do for ages, please forgive me for not doing so sooner…) as one of your lightcatchers would look absolutey stunning in my new office too! πŸ™‚ I will be in touch. Much love to you my dear, beautiful friend πŸ™‚ ❀ xoxo

    • I’ve been keeping an eye out for you dear Sherri – I know you have had so much going on and probably even more that you are not publicly sharing!
I’m glad to hear you are ‘climbing back up’ and returning to us. I think our global community of support and affection is a powerful movement and antidote to the negative stuff that rules the air waves! We don’t preach about it, we just do it ❀

There's not much at all in my little shop any more as I lost all my pdf and scanned copies of art work when my computer abruptly died and I hadn't backed anything up…….. Sigh! And all my photos – another sigh! Live and learn πŸ™‚ And please don't apologise, I never expect any one to visit my shop or purchase from me – it's not part of my deal!

Sending love – it's so nice to see you back! xoxo

      • Aww, thank you, bless you dear Pauline. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, you are very astute and so very kind and thoughtful as always ❀ Ah…Such is life. I find it difficult to blog and write when I'm fighting the fog, but what a very great encouragement knowing I still belong to this amazing global community πŸ™‚ So true, like the old Nike ad, we do indeed 'Just do it'!! But I am so sorry to hear about your shop and photos Pauline, what an absolute nightmare for you 😦 I use Dropbox ever since that happened to me and pay a small fee for the extra space. But I forget sometimes after hours spent on rewrites. Yikes…a salutory warning. I really hope your computer woes are behind you now. I do really want a lightcatcher though, so I will keep an eye out for when your shop is up and running again πŸ™‚ So lovely to chat with you again my lovely friend. I send you much love and a huge hug right back and will see you again very soon! πŸ™‚ ❀

        • I have an external terabyte of back-up ready to programme in – I don’t know what any of that means πŸ™‚ I’m just waiting til I have something to back up now! Whenever you want we can talk a bout a bespoke light catcher for your new writing room – lets get that place sparkling!!

          • Ha…I don’t know either, but you’ve got back up now and that’s a good thing! Even with a ‘cloud’ online back up like Dropbox, I’ve been told that an external back-up is just as important in case of a major melt down of worldwide communications and satellite transmission – yikes! If things got that bad, maybe we wouldn’t be worried about our computer work! But seriously, that’s great you’re sorted for when you need it. And yes, will definitely be in touch about that light catcher. Love the idea of getting the place sparkling! Thanks Pauline. I’ll email you soon! Have a wonderful week my wonderful friend πŸ™‚ ❀

  5. I enjoyed visiting Luanne and seeing another version of your beautiful danglers. I can hardly wait for the sun to come back here so I can see my own rainbows again. Each one unique and perfect for the person you make it.

    • Hi Marlene! There’s never two the same in existence πŸ™‚ I love making up ones with colour combinations I would never think of doing myself. Coral is also a very difficult colourway to get right – all kinds of oranges and pinks masquerade as ‘coral’ it seems and I now have a huge amount of ‘definitely not coral’ pink beads in my stash! And then while I was in the middle of collecting beads and making it up I noticed that ‘coral’ was a new fashion colour in the stores this summer. Luanne is a fashion trend-setter!! ❀

      • I love a true coral color but not the sherbet version of it. They bring it out in the summer but it’s always too bright for me to wear. Not fond of orange but nature doesn’t tweek colors the way we do. πŸ™‚ You do such amazing things with those danglers. I’ve never seen anything that beautiful here in all the hunting I’ve done. One of a kind and priceless.

        • There’s a very pretty version of coral out this summer – I can’t wear it, but it looks very nice on my younger blonde friend πŸ™‚ Thank you for that kind compliment about the danglers – I’m refining ideas all the time – If I could lay my hands on those flat prisms that Luanne shows in her Pollyanna movie clip I’d love to make something with them!! πŸ™‚
