Clouds From Both Sides

My friend Geoff over at ‘Tangental’ has just brought my later than normal morning coffee to a full stop, favourite coffee mug half way to my mouth, filled with the wonders of experiencing life in all its multitudinous wonderful choices – please read and enjoy and choose to be awesome too! ❀

I was reminded tonight of the fabulous Joni Mitchell Song

Both Sides Now

This line stuck, stuck hard in my throat, my head, in every little bit of me

I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now

There’s an image I adore.

  1. I would also like to suggest listening to Joni Mitchell’s whiskey older sounding Cd of the very same song. She has said that this was about 10 years ago, but she felt the “weight” of knowing what Life held, that she didn’t sing it all cheerful but more like the thoughtful person she has become. Check out “Love Actually” soundtrack or look for a more recent recording date, Pauline. I believe you will be so interested in the real meaning she gives this beautiful song!! Thanks for reblogging TanGental. πŸ™‚ Hello and hugs to you, pats or scratches on head for Siddy and Orlando. πŸ™‚

    • I watched Love Actually [again!] this past Christmas – it’s one of my favourite movies. πŸ™‚ I was more impressed with Geoff’s train of thought than the song itself. [Not being particularly a JM fan] As I said somewhere here before, however you get there is fine with me πŸ™‚ Thanks for coming by and interacting with so many mutual friends here Robin – a lovely gesture to make. xoxo

  2. Thanks for sharing this post Pauline.A truly classic song done nicely by Joni herself or by many others including my favourite Judy Collins. It does allow for some introspection.

  3. Although never a Joni Mitchell fan, love the words of this song and it does make you think. We should all be considering both sides. Thanks for sharing this post, Pauline.

  4. Spooky, I haven’t heard or thought of that song for years, then last weekend we had an identify the song from the lyrics round at the golf club quiz. Both Sides Now was one of the very few I could identify and my hubby was very insistent they weren’t from it – but they were. If I was given to fanciful thinking, I’d say someone’s trying to draw my attention to it!

  5. That’s a nice post. As I told the author, Ronald Reagan used lines from the Magee poem when he eulogized the astronauts who perished in the space shuttle Challenger tragedy. I wasn’t a fan of Reagan’s but that speech was perfection.

  6. Thanks Pauline, for sharing this. You are a special human being and the world a brighter and better place with you in it. This is precisely what I needed to hear and read tonight to quiet my inner uneasiness. Perhaps I will finally get to sleep tonight.

  7. Ah clouds….they are so fascinating, and have more than two sides, I think; but then I have been a member of The Cloud Appreciation Society (out of the UK) for several years now, and have loved looking and looking at all the kinds and sides, though I haven’t been in a plane for a long time….

    • Hello Robin – your visit made me aware you too have disappeared from my mailing list – that makes three since Christmas sometime. Thanks for stopping by and I’m glad you found Geoff’s thoughts uplifting.
