The Mystery on the Easel Phase II

Hello my friends!  Just for Kerry who became a bit concerned by his prolonged absence, the header features my lovely Orlando who has been usurped from his position of star of this blog by the cute, bouncy and camera ready Siddy.  Orlando doesn’t like cameras very much, he believes they are out to steal his soul and acts accordingly.  He is however in good health and spirits and spends a lot of time curled up by Siddy or stealing Siddy’s favourite spot (my knee) or Siddy’s second favourite spot (beside me in my big chair) and generally causing Siddy reasons for consternation.  All is well in Orlando’s world.  ❤

So, on with the business at hand.  We are looking at the progress of a painting – who knows what will happen!

Just to refresh your memory, in the last post you saw this

Phase1

Now here is Phase II

Phase 2

Where is this going?  Any thoughts?

Phase III is maybe a couple of days away, see you then.

Thanks for coming by today, I love that you did!

  1. Reading your recent posts backwards wanting to see what you are up to dear Pauline, I am as intrigued now as when I began! Your header looks like a most beautiful stained glass window…I must have missed Orlando’s photo sadly. Glad to hear things are all well in his world though, albeit at poor Siddy’s expense. But we both know that when a cat knows what it wants to do, there is no stopping it…and I know you will more than make it up to Siddy 😉 ❤

  2. ORLANDO! So good to see that boyo–he is truly handsome. Thanks for giving me one less thing to worry about! I see that painting as inky doodles writ large–and I really like what you’re doing!

  3. Ooh, Pauline. I love it! My favourite colours, why would I not? I didn’t expect to see a Mandala added, but I’m not surprised it has a spiritual intent. I look forward to seeing the next addition. I’m pleased you are going to show us the progress in each post. 🙂

    • Thanks Norah, it is a lot of fun for me to read all the thoughts on what is seen and what it might be – I can never be quite sure where anything will end up, it’s one of the joys of intuitive painting. I end up seeing what it is at the end too and it is so good to have a record of the process. It won’t change the world, but it is fun! 🙂

      • Fun! More fun will change the world! We need to band together and spread the word – fun is what makes us us, and is much better than terrorising others!

  4. maybe I’m more prosaic than the world viewers above but it looks like what someone looking down would see of a large umbrella overlooking the seashore or a pool, or maybe a carousel from the same above viewpoint.

  5. I never know what you’re going to come up with next and wouldn’t have guessed this – or anything close! It’s always a surprise (the nice kind!) to see your ideas take shape.

  6. At this hour of the night I only have half a brain so I can’t think what might happen next in this piece. At the moment I like the contrast of the colourful detailed side with the soft simplicity of the other side of the canvas. And I love Orlando’s presence at the top of the page.

    • You were up late. I am up early. If we move our schedules an hour each way we may overlap 🙂 It’s lovely to have Orlando back on view isn’t it. He doesn’t care, but we enjoy it. Thank you for your views on the canvas – am enjoying hearing from everyone and wondering if I should have stopped here…… Hopefully you will have another guiding thought for me when the next phase goes up 🙂

    • Thank you Jill – I have an idea where it is going, but it’s like when you are writing a book, you can never be quite sure what the characters might do or say next …… That’s three of us who are camera shy ❤

  7. I see the painting as a representation of energy flowing out of the heart. It is really wonderful. This painting reminds me of the saying about people who are sad should get a kitten. There is no way a person would be sad with your painting in sight. Love it.

  8. I so laughed at you saying that Orlando thinks cameras might steal his soul. My dog, Sam, is the same way. He won’t even look straight at me when I have a camera or the phone to take his picture. Ha ha, these little creatures are too cute and funny. I love your painting, I have no idea where it is going, but I really like it! 😀

  9. It keeps getting more and more interesting. Looks like Orlando is just plain mellow Yellow. Adjusted to his sibling just fine. Looking forward to seeing the next phase.

    • I’m happy you are finding this interesting too Marlene – it’s a lot of fun for me to post in this way and to hear everyone’s thoughts. Orlando is just plain mellow – especially after his baggie has just been refilled with his drug of preference (nepeta)….. (My responses in this comment file is taking a definite lean towards alternative culture today) 🙂

  10. Hello and hugs to Orlando, Siddy and you! ❤ Your mandala and or dream catcher reminds me of the weather we are having now. Its summer and the whole painting just screams water, sun, swimming, fun and family.

  11. Your painting reminds me of those enhanced photos we see of far away galaxies, with all the swirling gases and planets and stars. I love these vibrant colours and I really like how the circle is partly off the canvas, as if it’s on the move.

  12. Oooh, I get the first comment. I must have missed the previous blog, but this painting is the universe–earth and sea and sky and space and that wheel is what rolls in with all the encompassing largeness. Whew. I sound like I’m on drugs, but it’s just coffee (and decaf at that), I swear. Circles and wheels are symbolic of infinity, no? Orlando looks positively blissful, but then sleeping in the sun will do that for you…
