Three Days – Three Quotes: Day 2

If you read the previous post you might want to skip the prelude and go straight to the quote…………….

My old pal Apple over on Apple Pie and Napalm who sometimes writes really great posts about country music, had a slight melt down, took to partaking in something called  ‘A Quote a Day for Three Days’ and fool-heartedly chucked me under the handed the banner on to me……..

According to Ms Napalm there are ‘Easy peasy instructions. One quote post per day for three days. For each post, include three fellow bloggers to pass the challenge to.’

I considered it a small miracle that I would be able to organise myself enough to get together three quotes. but I managed it.  Then I decided wouldn’t it be nice to present the quotes using either Danella Joy’s photos or my own paintings…..  See this is why getting posts together is such time consuming work for me!!

Like so many of my friends here in the world of blogging I’m not given much to following rules and I’m hoping some of you might just like to keep the thing alive by posting a quote on your own blog and you can nominate or not – according to how you feel about rules.  Let me know if you pick up the banner 🙂

This is what I think about ‘Quotes’:  Quotes can be read and not understood.  Quotes can be read and not seen.  For a quote to have meaning, I must attempt to live it.

  4. Quote number 2 really speaks to me, Pauline! A beautifully sung a cappella song, the kindness of strangers, a hug, a sunset, my children’s laughter, hearing my parents’ voices on the other end of the phone, a cuddle from my deaf and blind dog, a gathering of friends … these and so many other moments like these can fill my heart and can move me to tears. It’s like the saying that the best gifts come in small packages – I’m a true believer!

  7. Your art was so perfectly executed for this quote Pauline and always one of my favorites of yours. Perhaps the Aqualiciousness of it influences me, or perhaps those words by Milne hit home. I adored all his stories as a kid and find new meaning in his words today. Utterly timeless! This:

    If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”

  12. Well, this quote is just as good a the last one but in a totally different way – you’re keeping up the level here with he wonderful AA Milne. Where would we all be without him somewhere in our childhoods? For me, the poems were the thing – I can still recall many of them word for word.
    Oh, and to put the quote with one of your own paintings – wonderful.
    Looking forward to #3.

  14. A great quote from the wise Pooh. I am also still quite fond of Ratty, Mole and Badger from Wind in the Willows. But I don’t think any of their quotes would be so aptly illustrated by your lovely painting! Can’t wait for the next quote…

  19. The older I get, the more the “small things” seem to matter to me. The other day I got the most incredible amount of joy out of finishing something that I had been putting off. The simple act of “finishing” was enough. I love my life, thank you for reminding me that the small things are where the love really is Ms Pauline 🙂

  21. Pauline, you’re matching wonderful quotes and pictures beautifully. Chris was a huge Pooh fan, so we spent hours reading from a collection of Milne’s books and had several to listen to in the car as well.

    And I’m pretty sure this is a coincidence but as an Alys Ann, I’m A.A. Milner. Fun, eh?

      My girls were raised on the gang at 100 Acre Wood too – I have vivid memories of reading them the stories and doing the voices as appropriately as I could ….. Eeyore was my personal favourite and I remain convinced that my version was stolen to be the voice of ‘Marvin’ the melancholic robot in the original radio series of Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy.

      • Pauline, I have a big smile on my face. The 100 acre woods felt so real. What an amazing writer and illustrator. I’m outraged on your behalf that someone lifted your Marvin voice. To whom should I complain?

        I’ll never forget the day that Chris, after hearing one of the Pooh stories dozens of times, picked up the book and “read” it to me with all my vocal intonations and expressions. It’s amazing what he retained. How I wish I had captured that on tape. It’s nice sharing these memories with you.

  22. Lovely quote but an even more lovely painting! I actually like this challenge because I love quotes. I was nominated to participate in this challenge by my friend
    delightful blog at “The thoughts of life and me” but I have yet to take her up on it. You have inspired me to perhaps give it a try. I always have quotes swimming in my head, something I must have got from my father because he also had a stockpile of quotes while we were growing up. Generally I have to hold back so that I don’t drive my friends and family crazy with them!!

  23. I don’t just like this one, I love it. Especially with your painting to make it stand out. I love that painting!!! It’s how I feel when I get wonderful things in the mail.     • 🙂 {{Marlene}} I still hve the original of that painting tucked away in the portfolio somewhere – I love the colours in it still! And of course the quote!! Yes, to all the little reminders that we are loved ❤

    • The ‘Tao of Pooh’ sits by my bed and is still dipped into now and again Kerry. So many great life quotes come from the original books – one of the few things I wish I still had on my shelves.

  28. Oh, Pauline! I love A. A. Milne with Pooh and his friends. My two oldest kids would talk about the bad behaviors of an imaginary Tigger. He would take off his seat belt in the car or they could “see” him bouncing alongside our car. 🙂 My brother had a stuffed Eeyore back in the 60’s. Too bad he “loved” it so much, it wore a few of the seams out and Mom patched him up a couple of times to hold his stuffing in. It would have been a cool antique. ♡ thank you for sharing your pretty girl with her bird and her heart (s) displayed.

    • There are so many Pooh quotes that make you stop and think aren’t there Robin. I have always loved Pooh – and Piglet and Eeyore …….. This has always been one that makes me stop for a moment and reflect on the small things 🙂

      • So lucky we have read and re-read A.A. Milne. From time to time, I pause and wonder what it would be like if we had not known a special author or book, Pauline. Such a blessing to have had such wonderful books in our lives!
