Three Days – Three Quotes: Day 1

My old pal Apple over on Apple Pie and Napalm who sometimes writes really great posts about country music, had a slight melt down, took to partaking in something called  ‘A Quote a Day for Three Days’ and fool-heartedly chucked me under the handed the banner on to me……..

According to Ms Napalm there are ‘Easy peasy instructions. One quote post per day for three days. For each post, include three fellow bloggers to pass the challenge to.’

I considered it a small miracle that I would be able to organise myself enough to get together three quotes. but I managed it.  Then I decided wouldn’t it be nice to present the quotes using either Danella Joy’s photos or my own paintings…..  See this is why getting posts together is such time consuming work for me!!

Like so many of my friends here in the world of blogging I’m not given much to following rules and I’m hoping some of you might just like to keep the thing alive by posting a quote on your own blog and you can nominate or not – according to how you feel about rules.  Let me know if you pick up the banner 🙂

This is what I think about ‘Quotes’:  Quotes can be read and not understood.  Quotes can be read and not seen.  For a quote to have meaning, I must attempt to live it.

Thanks for coming by today, I love that you did!

  4. Beautiful, inspirational quote, Pauline, and a great one to start off with I must confess, I’m not at all good with number there and I could do better with the first two. I can only pray I have many more years in which to work to do better!

  7. Oh my goodness, I am so behind! I didn’t even know you were doing a quote a day for three days 🙂 The good news is that I can read them all in a row.
That Buddha … I’m not sure I’ve let anything go gracefully lately, but I shall work on it! Off to the next quote!

  8. I was by a few days ago to read and enjoy your quote. I nodded because I so agree, the thing about quotes is, “walk the walk or don’t talk the talk”. I’ve choosen to end each Kelly’s Korner with a quote too. Budda would be happy with me on his first two points and say “well done Boomdee” but the last, “letting go of things not meant for you”, he’d have to show patience. I generally will just try harder to be better to finally get what I ‘think’ I want. I don’t understand the motive to the last one. Is it to save yourself pain, time, grief? My thought is, everything is worth those things if your learn something of value. Like, “don’t marry the guy who can float around a party of strangers like a butterfly, you’ll learn to regret this”. Not a Budda lesson, a Boomdee lesson 😀 Hugs momma P xo K

    • And that, I think is exactly the point. Bearing grief and bitterness for something someone did to you for the rest of your life is not ‘letting go’. Wanting something and then being angry, blaming and grieving because I didn’t get it, is not ‘letting go’. Understanding the event, forgiving, releasing, learning, is all part of ‘letting go’. If you are like me it is a long slow progress and there is little to be seen of me moving ‘gracefully’ through it 🙂 …… But one of the advantages of living long enough is you get to see what happened after the awful thing that could not otherwise have happened and which therefore makes the awful thing an event of grace ….. I think tied up in this quote too is the wish we be happy with what is, with what we have, and not be impatient with that just because we think we need to have something bigger, better, different….. I guess it is trusting that life moves us on through events and as we learn to take responsibility and let go and appreciate what is good in our lives, we mature as human beings……. It was a good question K xoxo

      • True enough, the grass is not always greener on the other side. But if you don’t take a wee peek, will you always wonder? Budda is wise, and I love this quote. ❤

  9. Really like this quote. Really like the photo too. Interesting about letting go of things not meant for you. Means you need to differentiate with the things that are…

  11. What a great quote, Pauline I read your second quote before I read this one! Leave it to me to read things in the wrong order ha ha! Is this something you painted or is this a photograph? I like the bubble effect.

  12. This Buddha quotation was a superb one to pass on, Pauline. Beautiful and meaningful message within its words. Lovely photo by Daniella Joy King, a sister or? 🙂

  13. How fitting, Esmeralda, as even the Buddha didn’t go by his given name, and he had some spiffy magic up his sleeves–er, robes.
I love the quote, and I adore the mystical bubbles as well, but I mostly like the message within the quote. It’s one of those lessons that can lead you down a most bewitching rabbit hole.

  14. Wow! That is a truly beautiful quote. I never read it before. I love it with your painting too. I have to get some things printed out next week and I think I will put it in my studifice. I know you wont mind. I quite like number 3, it is liberating. Have you noticed how much pressure we can get to strive for things or situations we don’t even want? I KNOW you will understand. ❤

    • Glad you have met that quote Sharon, it’s one of my most important ones…. It’s not my painting though, it is one of Danella Joy’s photos – i love it! I am sure you are most welcome to print it out and I hope it will look stunning on your studifice wall! xoxo

  15. Beautiful photo, Danella! Pauline, I love the quote, probably because it made me think (a lot!). The first part I have always foiund easy; the second I think I have done, or tried to do, most of my life; the third . . ., I’m working on that 🙂
I am considering joining in, more likely for me it will be ‘3 quotes in 3 weeks’, but that’s my life at the moment. Thanks for the inspiration . . .,

    • Yes, we are deeply challenged by the final part – the ego wants what it wants and forgets to trust that we are enough without it!! I think it would be lovely if you came up with three quote posts – period of time not being what is important 🙂 I shall look forward to seeing them come past at some stage. xo

  16. My, oh my, the quote you chose is perfect against Danella’s photograph. I think that this quote is quite fitting for you, Pauline. I look forward to your other two quotes.

  17. You rule-breaker you! 😉 Yet another reason to love you, Pauline, as if I needed one more.

What a charming idea presenting a quote a day for three days. Terrific use of Danella’s whimsical photo, too. Bubbles and gardens! What joy. xox

        • How grand! And you don’t have to do it every day either – you could spin it out a bit. Hope your foot is doing okay. It must be very hard standing on it for a long while and in your heat!! You sound so busy, I hope you are not over-doing it and are mindful of your needs too! Sending lots of love xoxo

          • That’s a good point about the spacing. Let me think about that. I’ve already got two of the three quotes at the ready, but need to find photos to go with it.

My business is a funny thing. It’s often feast or famine. When it rolls in, it is hard to turn it away, but yes it is hard on my foot. I’m wearing snug-fitting shoes and an orthotic. I soak it in the evening with epsom salts and take anti Naproxen when I remember. I see the physical therapist for the first time this week. I sure hope it helps. I’ll let you know. Thank you for your caring words. Love back ‘atcha. xox

    • I’m sorry to hear this Marlene – but also a bit not surprised given the activity of the past year – it’s maybe time to tend to your soul needs exclusively! I think this year is demanding a lot from so many people and we must take heed and do what we can to nurture ourselves. xoxo

      • I’m listening very carefully this time. Can’t afford a replay of the Bells attack. Giving up a few things in order to give the old ticker a bit more rest. We’ve had soaring temps here so I’m sitting here just resting. I’ve let go of some concerns as well. You don’t have to hit me on the head twice to get my attention. Finally getting some perspective now that I’m quieter. Thanks for caring. Hugs to all.

  19. I like that you made this challenge your own, by doing as much of it as you wanted to and doing it your own way! The quote you chose and Danella’s photo are wonderful together!
