Siddy Gets Happy Mail

This was hand delivered by our smiling Postie this morning HM1

‘Ooooh!  Look Siddy,” I cooed, pulling him off the happy Postie whom he was trying to lick to death, ‘you’ve got mail!”

I knew what was in it as our friend Claire had said she was sending something to Siddy especially for Christmas.  Orlando waited patiently for the opening, not at all miffed that the gift was not for him.

HM2a

Once opened the package revealed this rather cute wee Christmas doggie bag

HM3

and inside, rather more than I was expecting 🙂  I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the pretty pink star bunting before somewhere in Claire’s blog, I liked it very much and had no clue it was destined for me.  I am a very happy Contented Crafter, this gorgeous star bunting made from the most deliciously soft yarn will end up in the revamped art room eventually – you will see it again! HM4

Siddy and his gift

HM5

Oooooh!  Siddy’s Christmas flower, made from some magical thing that makes petals – and packed full of colourful, tiny bells for stamens [apologies for the blurry shot- sigh!] HMFlower

And Siddy wearing his Christmas flower which, alas, due to his extreme hirsuteness is difficult to see, but can be heard – he tinkles like Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer and is quite pleased with himself!

HM9

Siddy and I send a big hug to our friend Claire of MollieandClaire who made this lovely package and sent it off whilst coping with an awful water event in her house.  If you like crochet and knitting and such like pop over – have a look at the waistcoat she is making her dad for Christmas – it is pretty fabulous!!

Thank you Claire – this is the most lovely and thoughtful gift and has begun our Christmas season most happily!

**********************

The same happy postie also bought another package with her – it contains this huge ‘Tree of Life’ wall hanging.  I thought it might go in my new, revamped art room – but it is too fabulous and is going into my living room on my ‘faux wall’ – I shall find something else for the art room!

Tree of Life Decor

The art room is coming along extremely slowly due to a million interruptions, all of the most welcome kind – like assisting YD in her move to a new and exciting chapter of her life and old friends coming to stay and all the other stuff that takes up time at this wonderful season of the year.  Tomorrow is curtain making day!!

Thanks for coming by today, I’m so happy that you did!  🙂

  2. What a lovely present for Siddy. I think Orlando was happy that the bells were not for him, now he can hear Santa Paws coming nearby by every step he takes..MOL 😀 The art room looks fabulous. Like the idea of the stairs. Pawkisses for an Easy Week ahead 🙂 ❤

  3. How lovely and kind of your fellow blogger to send such a beautiful gift for Siddy, and may I say he looks absolutely gorgeous with his beautiful Christmas flower 🙂 Not forgetting Orlando too, who is just as beautiful 🙂 Love the doggie bag and star bunting too, Claire is very creative. The Tree of Life hanging is absolutely beautiful, I love the way you have it displayed it with the decor so attractively placed all around it. You truly do have an eye for interior design Pauline, just lovely. And also how lovely to have such wonderful family distractions…especially at this time of year 🙂

  4. What a happy post! I love the garland and the jingle flowers and I’m glad you mentioned the waistcoat; I nipped right over and ‘followed’ Claire; just the sort of creativity I love. However, the wall hanging leaves me speechless! I remember them being so popular in the 70s, too, but I don’t think I ever saw one as beautiful. Your room will be stunning once it’s done. I’m looking forward to the final photos . . . this seems to be your version of Anticipation 101 🙂 I love it!

    • Hi Linne, yes, very 70’s, but up-dated. The depth of colour is stunning. I hope to get it hung today 🙂 Claire is quite prolific in her output – I am a little in awe of her. She starts and finishes half a dozen projects while I’m still thinking about which one to do!

  5. The tree of life wall hanging fits right into your décor, Pauline! I could see the chair colors that Orlando was sitting on, patiently watching the goings on, that it has turquoise in it, too. The carpet you have in this room looks so lovely with this wall hanging.
The artistic flair shown in the pink, rosy stars will look gorgeous in your art room, along with the wonderful tinkling bell flower being perfect for Siddy, too. What a wonderful package to receive and is this in celebration of a birthday or upcoming Christmas? I think you deserve every special gift possible, since you are such a caring and generous person, Pauline!

    • Thank you Robin. This was a gift from another blogger who generously made and sent the little flowers to several of her followers who also have dogs. The globe is full of little pups wearing tinkly flowers on their collars for Christmas. Isn’t that lovely!

      • I like to picture the image of a wide variety of dogs having these special, colorful and tinkly bells flowers to ring in the holidays and the new year, too!
Pauline, I am sure Orlando is being driven a bit mad by the noise, but at least Siddy’s location is heralded by the sound. As if he doesn’t already know what the little rascal is up to, ha ha!
Merry, merry Christmas and hoping you have a cheerful and bright New Year, too!

  6. I am sure that Siddy was blissed out by his bells. Earl says “No FAIR!” hanging them from “Suddy’s” neck so he can’t reach them. Earl has a rather more acidic intestinal environment than delicate little Suddy methinks. That wall hanging is glorious. SO glorious I feel a stanza of The Hallelujah Chorus coming on. I think it only fitting that you save up and buy another one for the Lab. Did it come in another colour? Something to make you feel joyful whenever you walk past :).

    • Not only can I hear you belting out ‘Hallelujah’ but I can also see you – hands on hips, head back, blasting the heck out of the place! [I don’t know why hands on hips, is that a usual stance for you?] Steve will be accompanying on the electric guitar with amps UP. Earl and Bezial will join in on the high notes. That’s how it should be, even if it isn’t.

The hanging was surprisingly affordable [or maybe not, seeing it came straight from source and by-passed the middle man] It is delectable. I am feeling I need to toss out any and all furniture that necessarily needs to sit in front of it and just have a couple of floor cushions and the hanging – and maybe a ladder too 🙂 That thought takes me back to the 70’s. When we did sit on the floor around a giant coffee table my husband had made, on cushions stitched by me. My aged aunt [68 at the time] came to stay and couldn’t make the floor so she ate on the sofa. I remember feeling bad that she couldn’t get down there – and now I am rather afraid I have reached her stage 🙂

It comes in a number of different designs and colours, but this was definitely the one that had my name on it. You should troll around Etsy and have a look. 🙂

      • I don’t think I can reach far enough to get my hands on my hips anymore Ms Pauline ;). The only way that the boys join in is if someone adds harmonica to the mix. They love a good knees up avec harmonica accompaniment. That gorgeous hanging would have me throwing out all of my worldly goods and setting up a little shrine in front of it for it’s beauty. Probably good that I don’t own one eh? ;). The floor cushions are a gorgeous idea right up till you think about the practicalities of them. Earl would eat any floor cushion that I was stupid enough to put on the floor and if one survived intact and I chose to sit in it. I would be an hilarious sight trying to get back up off it…sort of like a hermit crab rolling on the ground or a turtle on it’s back…I think I am at that aged aunt stage as well :(. Send me a link…who needs worldly goods? I am in need of a good cheer up at the moment. Might be a lovely treat to up the old ante again 🙂

  7. My jaw has a tiny cramp from smiling all the way through this post. It’s a price I’m happy to pay for another wonderful trip through the Contented Crafter. That Siddy is a star. Did you ever dream your little pup would one day receive fan mail? Further, did you ever dream that Orlando would look on happily, without a jealous bone in his body? Harmony is a beautiful thing and so is that tree of life. You could order three more: one for a bedspread, in the art room and anywhere else you can tuck one in. It’s gorgeous an so beautifully reflective of you.

I can’t way to see the latest and greatest.

I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying the season with visiting friends. Best of luck to your daughter as she resettles. xoxox

    • Alys! Don’t go putting ideas in my head like that – Oh darn, you just did!!

Today is warm and sunny – a sudden change decided on by our fickle weather gods down here! But it helps with the festive mood. Today is the day for getting [some] curtains finished and hung. I’m on the last part of this particular journey. and am confident of meeting the day before Christmas finish line!

I’ll pass on your good wishes to YD too – thank you for them 🙂

Has your storm water all drained away safely? I am looking forward to a post with the latest news. xoxo

  8. There is nothing more fun than transforming one’s dog into a reindeer. Except for maybe bestowing upon him the gift of speech. Still, Siddy’s jingle bells just make him more squishable.
The Tree of Life wall hanging is wonderfully rich–and you have it displayed so beautifully, Pauline.
It certainly sounds like your December is filling up with some lovely, warm memories–busy as it is. But that is the stuff of life we should truly crave and cherish. Lucky you.
Can’t wait to eventually see how the art room is coming along. I’m sure it will be brilliant.

  10. Oh what a lovely art room Pauline! love all the colour (turquoise? one of my favourites) and the wall hanging is magnificent! also clever use of that ladder (genius!) 🙂 Am I right in saying Orlando is still waiting for his gift?? Siddy looks very happy indeed.

    • Yolanda, unfortunately that is not my art room – it is just the picture that accompanied the wall hanging – and the wall hanging is all I have. Though I would love a ladder and must keep my eyes peeled! My art room will not be quite so luscious, but will I hope be pretty enough to please me and a good work space too. Fingers crossed!

Orlando is still gift less – but I am sure he doesn’t care. All he wants is a nice bowl of food and a warm lap to curl up in and he is a happy boy. If he can also have no Siddy jumping on him then he is really happy 🙂

  11. Aren’t you having lots of fun with the mail?! What great decorations for the pup and the house . . . but I sort of think Orlando looks a little peeved at being left out. Don’t you think he needs a little elf hat or something? Hahahahaha–as if he’d stand for that!

    Like

    • Poor Orlando, he has lost his position as king of the blog since young Siddy showed up and won hearts left right and centre.

He let me put a hat on him once and I got in two shots – one where he looks coyly attractive and the second just as he is about to shake the thing off his head which is hilarious! I don’t think he’d stand for it again 🙂

I have sarongs all over the walls here, instant color and texture. btw Orlando is the most beautiful cat on the planet. 🙂 Love from Hawaii. xo

    • Siddy agrees with you about Orlando – he is quite besotted and constantly tries to share that chair with him, much to Orlando’s indignation! I certainly agree with you – he is mellow and gentle and affectionate and gorgeous. I love my wall hanging and can’t wait to get it up – but need some help as I’m not tall enough and the tall help is working long hours until next week.

  13. How delightful to get a parcel filled with goodies for all. I’m sure Orlando is benefiting from the beautiful jingling of bells as well. It’s quite pretty. Your room looks so inviting. I’m like you. So far behind and not sure I’ll ever catch up. But I am doing what I can and the rest will just have to wait. Tomorrow is another day. Everything that needs doing will be done in it’s right time. Enjoy the moment. Hugs,

    • And there it is all tripping so beautifully from your thoughts – and are you believing it too? I have had to give myself a severe talking to! A self reminder that it really is all just perfect and will come to fruition in its own good time 🙂

‘Tomorrow is another day’ always makes me think of Scarlet O’Hara, back of hand to brow – the original Steel Magnolia! 🙂

    • I believe it may be possible for a puppy to know when he gets a special gift – he is very proud of his new jingle-flower! I’ve taken it off his collar due to the incessant prancing about and shaking of head and grinning at me and he pestered me for ages to put it back on. He can have it back on tomorrow! The star bunting is lovely and I want to hang it in my art room along with some flowers I am supposed to be making 🙂 Thank you again – it was such a delightful surprise!

    • That wall hanging is even more gorgeous in real life – it is stunning. I found it on Etsy and as it was so reasonably priced I thought it might be quite flimsy and maybe not such great quality – I was over the moon when I unwrapped it! And there and then decided it needed to be in the living room! I shall indeed post some photos when all is done – might not be for while though 🙂

  17. You are very blessed to get happy mail +gifts from your wonderfully, talented blogger buddies. I stopped over to her site + what beautiful things she makes. My Grandmother knitted a lot of our clothes when I was growing up. I saved all of the outfits. They were special, so I appreciate knitting. It was not a craft form- I was attracted to, but I sure love seeing the stuff others make.
Siddy has a beautiful collar…awww…poor Orlando waits patiently- one beautiful cat!
I agree the tapestry belongs out where everyone can see it-quite pretty!
Good to hear you are having a wonderful Christmas:-)
Sending a Merry Christmas your way:-)
Hope you get a white one, I doubt we will:-( oh well, maybe next year:-)

    • Robbie, don’t hope for me to get a white Christmas, unless you are thinking white sands and hot sun! 🙂 The weather is so blah it is becoming hard to stay positive about it! I have not been outside in my little garden for days – cold, wet, blustery and bleak – and it is almost mid-summer! Did you see Claire’s waistcoat for her dad – it is quite wonderful. I really admire what she gets done! It is lovely to hear you have saved all your grandma’s knitted clothes – that would be a lovely thing to be able to pass down the generations.

      • I forgot you are in summer:-)-silly me! You are use to not having a white Christmas. I read her post + really liked the knitted wraps around the ornaments. I did not see the waist coat for her father:-(, Now that my daughter is having twins, you are right- I will have to pass on the clothes!

        • I think it must be wonderful to be able to see hand-crafted clothes that were made for you and your children worn by the next generation – that is real heirlooms! I kept the gown made from the train of my wedding dress for my first daughter to pass on to my grandchild – but alas that has never happened!

          • shoot, I just typed a great comment and it disappeared- happened to me this time. You have inspired me, I need to dig those out and pass them onto my daughter that is having the twins ( boy + girl). They need to be sent to her in stockholm. My grandmother knitted me the most amazing pleated skirt + vest outfits that I wore to school. The skirt was fully pleated , I have no idea but it was so adorable. I wore it in elementary school as well as other things she knitted. I was but a kid, so what did I know about that stuff. My mother kept eveything and I have it to pass on-you are so right , it is an heirloom!
She also made this BEAUTIFUL delicate dress ( yarn was delicate and light) pink dress that I did not appreciate in my hippie days:-( I remember her fitting it on me when she would visit—I need to dig that out and give it to my daughter she would look beautiful in that color!
            You have inspired me:-)

    • Hi Lois, yes it is a really nifty little flower and he rather likes it – I took it off his collar a few minutes ago and he has bothered me ever since wanting it back on. He shakes his head and makes the bells jingle then looks at us and smiles – so cute! And yes, you are exactly right about the wall hanging – I want to enjoy those colours as much as possible!
