It’s time for a Siddy update – just for his fans you understand.

Do you remember that about seven weeks ago Siddy had his first haircut and returned home a very clean and cute wee pup?  This was him a few days ago

Already looking decidedly raggedy again and with the groomer booked up until the end of February, YD decided we could do it ourselves.  I was not so confident given the way he leaps about when I’m brushing and combing him, but she was certain it was straight forward.  Her words in fact were “How hard can it be?”

Looks good right?  There are no further photos of the process as my main job was to hold him steady while she clipped along his back and sides and then to hold him down forcibly when she got to the tricky bits about his eyes and other cringe making body parts.

We took several breaks to regain our aplomb after mis-snips and close shaves, and to allow Siddy a breather and a treat or two for being such a ‘Good Boy!’   Eventually, we decided to leave the finishing bits ’til tomorrow’ and I gave Siddy a bath and let him chase the hot air of the dryer for a longer time as a special treat.

Finally, twenty four hours later we had this happy and relieved little pup

YD later reported to her work colleagues that groomers earn every last cent of their fee!

I went to Mudpuppy and promptly booked Siddy in for grooming every seven weeks for the entire year of 2015.  The groomer smiled broadly as I related our tale of home hair cutting and announced that for a first try it wasn’t too bad………….. bless her!

Siddy has always enjoyed his baths.  Right from when he was a tiny wee chap and I bathed him in the hand basin when he got covered in mud and other things better to draw a veil over, to now when he is a big boy and stands in the bath tub while I shower him down.  I lift him in and lift him out and rub him down with his towel and then turn the hair dryer on him while he rolls around and tries to catch the hot air.  It’s a lot of fun and he has a thoroughly enjoyable time.  [Although I’m usually pretty done in by the time he is dry!]   He enjoys it all so much that when we come home after a walk, and if he is muddy, he marches himself straight through to the bathroom and sits by the bathtub ready for me to do my part.

But then, two days ago Siddy taught himself a new game.

The first I knew about it was when, from the corner of my eye, I noticed him running backwards and forwards between his toy basket and the the hallway – always with a different toy in his mouth.  He is much given to arranging his toys in formation in different areas of the house, or piling them up for either Orlando or me to find later, so I didn’t think much of it.  Until there was a resounding clatter and crash and bang coming distinctly from the bathroom.  I put down my work and went to see.

After I had finished roaring with laughter I rushed to get the camera and returned in time to find him making sure everyone was behaving themselves

To finish off, here is a photo of Siddy [pre-haircut #2] enjoying time with his favourite visitor of all – there is a whole little ritual that has to be gone through and if she doesn’t call in at least every two days he starts looking for her – that’s love!

Do you notice Siddy has a new toy basket?  He ate his original lovely wicker one.

My next aim is to remember to take the camera on our morning walks so you get to see Siddy flying around the park.  But as I haven’t remembered in five months, don’t hold your breath in anticipation will you…………

  6. Omgosh, that’s really cute Pauline. You’ve got the smartest little fellow there. He was going to have all his friends enjoy a tub and blow dry too, hehehe. I bet you had a good belly laugh to see him in the tub with all those toys. Siddy looked great after his haircut, but I bet that was nerve racking. I used to cut Buddy’s hair outside on the lawn. He looked terrible after but I’m sure it felt better. Seems like Siddy is learning so fast. I’m sure you’ve been working hard on it all the time. Where as we’re just peeking in here and there. I can remember the total joy of watching Buddy enjoy his walks. I can’t wait to get a peek of Siddy whizzing around the beach. Hugs all around and see you at the beach xox

    • We haven’t been to the beach for a while Boomdee, the weather is so erratic we are sticking to the streets and the parks – but so looking forward to packing the car and taking off for a half day with a blanket, a book and a puppy! I have managed a few photos at the dog park which ware quite fun – post coming soon 🙂

      You must still miss Buddy so much! Do you think you might get another doggie – or would the diva’s not allow that? I was telling Siddy just the other day I cannot remember what life was like without him – the constant companionship, funniness and joy he offers at every moment is just such a gift – except when he chews up something he shouldn’t!

      YD handled the hair cut calmly – but I get quite anxious when scissors and eyes are in the same sentence – so I am very happy I am able to include the cost of regular grooming into the budget 🙂

      Yes, it is constant attention to a puppy’s manners and habits isn’t it. The areas I have let slide are coming back to bite me on the butt so I have to tighten up on behaviour when he meets visitors. He loves people and gets totally fixated on getting to them. We need to practise our manners a bit more – otherwise he is pretty much perfect 🙂 Oh, and bouncing on top of poor Orlando every morning. It goes very nicely for quite a few minutes, while O and I ghave pats and chats, Siddy sniffs and touches noses and kind of controls his happiness by waddling round and round in ever decreasing circles …. and then it just gets too much and leap – one flattened cat! Poor old O, he is used to it though he doesn’t like it at all. [who would?] He fixes me with his eyes and I haul puppy off and O stands up and shakes himself out and jumps up to place of safety. 🙂

      • LOL, sounds like your morning ritual of snuggles and bounces might be entertaining if not for the fact that Orlando gets squished. Maybe O thinks of the days when the house was all his with fondness, yet enjoys the company of young Siddy at times.

        Sorry you can’t get to the beach. We’re having rather erratic weather in North America too. Last week we suffered thru an Arctic Vortex with crazy cold and wind. Today was -3C, which now feels very pleasant, LOL. I think they’re now getting the Arctic weather as far south as Texas. The Canadian Farmers Almanac (do you have one for New Zealand?) says this winter will be long and cold. “oh Joy”.

        We aren’t planning for a new puppy at this house. We’ve had a dog in our lives for 25 years and I miss it a lot, yet Mr B is pretty comfortable without a dog now. I’ll never say never though. Animals needing homes usually find us, we never really go out with the intent of adoption and I haven’t considered any particular breed. So someday, a desperate soul may find their way into our hearts when we least expect it. Or that’s the usual. xoxox K

        • I’m sure the farmers do have an almanac of sorts – but I have never seen it. It’s not looking like a good summer again is all I can say! But at least we don’t have to deal with winters like you do either. Everything is changing, we just have to go with it I guess.

          I understand Mr B being comfortable without a dog – they are such a commitment. But as you say, never say never!

          O is just fine! I know he doesn’t get much air time these days, but he still rules the roost. He likes to tease Siddy and he knows that when he gets bounced on, Siddy get told to stop which makes Orlando quite happy. O claims his place on furniture, on me and on the bed and Siddy is slowly learning to read when it is okay to bounce and when it is not okay. And I am mostly kept highly amused!

  8. Did I tell you that I have a phobia for dogs? Your cute little Siddy might be just the right therapy to help me loose this fear. He is simply adorable! That was one eventful first grooming! I look forward to park photos:)

    • I don’t remember that piece of information Elaine, so if you did already tell me, it’s good that you repeated it! Were you frightened by a dog as a child? That can be an awful event and if you don’t have friendly dogs around it can become a full blown phobia – I know a couple of people with stories like that.

      Siddy is the perfect dog to have around people who are unsure about dogs – though he may try to lick you to death! He just loves people and at the dog park runs past dogs to get to their owner and say hello. This sometimes causes issues for the other dog who says ‘Hey, what you doing with my person?’ and they chase him away. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all as he will continue to bound around the person and invite pats at every opportunity.

      Should you come for a visit you will find that after an initial joyous greeting that consists of some jumping [which I am working on NOT having included in every greeting], whining, tail wagging so hard he almost cracks in half, he settles down. He loves to sit on a knee or beside someone with a toy which he chews on while they pat him. If you are willing he may invite you to play fetch with him. This will consist of you staying in your chair and tossing the offered toy as far away as possible [which isn’t all that far in this tiny house]. He will run after it, retrieve it with much ‘ha-ha-ha-ing’ which is his game playing sound and you will toss it away again. After a few minutes of that he goes away and settles down in one of his favourite spots and we get on with our chat. 🙂

      • Pauline, from your lovely account of Siddy, I am sure he will help me with this fear. Maybe one day we will have that chat in a brick and mortar venue and Sid and I will play fetch:)

        I was chased a few times by dogs when I was a child and that scared me half to death. Maybe I ought to write a blog post on this fear of mine:)

    • You are so right Siddy IS adorable! I am most happy you smiled all the way through – and he would be too if he could read. He is particularly lovely at the moment as he was living in a cloud of DE dust for 48 hours after I spied a dreaded flea on him and after this mornings long walk he had a lovely shower and is now all white and fluffy and sweet smelling again – and flea free 🙂 Arohanui xoxo

  12. I bow to your ability to groom a no doubt wriggling and protesting Siddy. Stevie-boy and I had a terrible time just getting to “look” at Earls sore foot the other day. It’s all better now but at the time he was having NONE of us going near him to check. I am in awe that you can bath Siddy and that he loves it. He is obviously not all dog and is part something else that loves water (mink?!) SO glad our boys have short hair that they groom (and shed copiously) themselves! Every 6 week trims?! That’s why I have long hair ;). YD certainly earned her position in the family with her sterling effort to trim Siddy. Even Earl is impressed ;). I had completely forgotten about the dangler of great happiness! Good to see you hadn’t and that you are going to do something with all of that precious “stuff” that you had (dumped on) gifted to you ;). I am working feverishly on my Christmas gift to my eldest daughter when Stevie-boy came from side left and in a day made my youngest daughter (we get one each this year) something amazing that has me twitching with equal measures of joy and angst as all of my efforts probably won’t impress as much as what he has done :(. Oh well…that’s dragoons for ya! Hope Siddy has recovered from his haircut traumas and I LOVE that photo of him and his toys in the bath. Methinks he thinks they need a good scrub too…he is trying to tell you something Ms Pauline (much like Earl is trying to tell me by pressing his nose on my left typing hand right now, that it is time to get Stevie-boy up and coincidentally get out there and walk! 😉 )

    • Do minks like water? I did ot know that – but then I know very little about minks except that some people like to wear them. Siddy must have some water dog gene in him – there is great debate going on about his parentage! We know mum was a Shih-Tzu/Maltese cross and dad was said to be a Lhasa Apso – which is just the Tibetan version of the Chinese temple dog. Siddy is bigger than all those dogs put together already and he is still growing. When his hair is cut it goes very curly, like a Bichon or a Poodle. He is very intelligent, stubborn, people oriented, friendly, loves water and takes his job as ‘companion’ very seriously. Whatever he is it’s great!! 🙂

      He wasn’t at all traumatised from the haircut – that was just us. He put up with it for the treats and because there was a bath on promise 🙂 Plus he really likes being free of all that hair. It’s the down side of a non-shedder isn’t it – I fell for the non-shedding/easy care label, not realising that you can actually sit and watch his hair growing! 🙂

      Poor Earl! But you see, he had it in hand and didn’t need you two fussing over him. He’s a cleva fella!!

      I am really hanging out to see these Christmas gifts. I sincerely hope you are going to share with us! I know what you are making and I really need to see it else I shall simply burst!

      Hope you had a lovely walk – ours was done in a howling southerly gale this morning – hard to find enjoyable in the moment, but loved getting home to the warm and wind free house 🙂

      • Where do all of you “other” people find your weather? Ours is clear blue skies and no rain…the exact opposite of what I want! I am progressing amazingly well with the Christmas gift (won’t even enunciate a hint as my dear darling daughter isn’t averse to checking out my friends blogs to see if I am blabbing with impunity “not THIS time Madeline!” 😉 ). I have just got to a most terrifying bit and hopefully I regain my composure soon as I need to get a wriggle on. All will be revealed after December 14th which is our early Christmas as my ex is going to spend actual Christmas with the kids so I had to really get a wriggle on this year. I bet Siddy is lovely to cuddle 🙂

          Siddy is a dream to cuddle – he would cuddle lots more if I would only sit still for longer!

  13. Pauline, you seriously need to put these into a book! many people would jump for joy to buy this book about Siddy. Siddhartha has always been someone of mythical proportions, (I think) and so is your dog. Worthy of tales of his feats and adventures. Siddy is an imp, a scoundrel, a playful and loving ‘breath of fresh air’ you share with us. Thank you for brightening my day with this epic post.
    When I sometimes cut my Mom’s dog, Nicki’s hair, I sit on the bathroom floor and put the bathroom trash bin, lined with its bag, by me. I use little scissors and am always saying how pretty she is. I put her on my out-stretched legs and brush, groom and kiss her a lot. There is a little bit of a ‘diva’ in there, she seems to get calmed down while I soothingly talk to her. She is not easily held by my Mom, such a wriggly and ornery girl she is.
    Siddy, you and daughter were very brave to do this in a high position, since even though Nicki is 11 years old, she seems to be one who would manage to get off the table. The groomer has a harness, which Mom went to see this process, flinched and left with my sister in law, too worried to watch… Your daughter, YD, is beautiful, Pauline.
    I am proud of your accomplishing your “Dangler” work.
    I enjoyed the hysterical ritual that Siddy did in the bathroom. He has been such a good liner up of toys, wonder what part of his DNA makes him do this wonderful, entertaining thing? Wise move, to schedule grooming sessions far in advance for next year, Pauline. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    • Robin I love your encouragement to put Siddy’s adventures into book form, sadly, I would not know where to start to do such a thing. But I am really happy knowing you enjoy his stories as much as I enjoy living them in the moment.

      A beautiful retelling of the myth of Prince Siddhartha can be found in Bertolucci’s movie ‘Little Buddha’ from 1993. This remains one of my favourite movies of all time.

      It was your stories and encouragement Robin, that made us brave enough to have this try at hair cutting – I should have mentioned that in the post and it is quite remiss of me not to have done that! We chose the table as it made it easier to have us both handling him and for movement etc. He really was very good and tried so hard to be still – but my it’s a stressful procedure! I flinched more than once as puppy and scissors came into jerky contact ……… I’m really happy to let my groomer do her excellent job while I go browse a book store or something!

      Did you see Kerry’s comment about her cat who also lines up toys? Hilarious! I have never seen another pup or cat do this and he has done it for most of his life with me so it must be in his genes 🙂 He did it again last night with the inevitable crash and bang as he gets in with the last toy. I watched as they all got prodded and poked and a little roughed up then patted into order. I wonder if this is his way of being ‘top dog’ somewhere as our hierarchy is Orlando, me, Siddy. It’s a tough life being bottom of the pecking order!

      • It is a charming and adorable habit, wherever his genes brought it to him, Pauline! I had not read Kerry’s comment so glad you pointed this out. This was so cute about her ‘wild’ cat instincts of killing things (in her kitty mind) and lining up the catches!
        I always appreciate good movie recommendations and will need to get this one to take up when I see my Mom over the holidays. Thank you for “Little Buddha” recommendation. I wrote it on a slip of paper with a continuous movie list, kept in my purse.
        You are never remiss, since I am not really an instigator! Your daughter probably thought it was a good idea, teamwork and a memory built together, too!

  14. Siddy is so adorable! I think that’s very brave of you to attempt the grooming yourselves, and it looks to me like ya’all did a really good job. 🙂 I think the groomers earn every penny, too. I have cats and clipping their claws is too big of an adventure for me.

    • I’m with you on the claw clipping thing – that would be asking just too much both of me and the animal in question! I love YD’s optimism – she will give anything a go and generally makes a really good job of it.

  17. Well, this totally made me laugh out loud! I have a cat who lines her toys up like that, next to my side of the bed! She carries each one in, making that throat noise cats make when they’ve killed a mouse, drops it, and goes off to get another. The photo of Siddy in the tub makes me want to sneak in in the middle of the night and steal him!

    • That’s a clever cat! I should like to see that 🙂 Years ago we had a wonderful cat who used to bring clumps of grass inside in the middle of the night. He would call to us in that same manner. Call and call until someone responded! Then he would re-enact the hunt with much scampering and head tossing and bits of grass flying about. I was always happy he stuck with grass!

      I think there are several people about who would like to steal this boy away. 🙂

  19. A wholehearted thanks from all the Siddy fans out here for this snorty-laugh-worthy post. Many years ago I had notions of being a dog groomer. I offered to groom my friend’s little pup for free to see if I was any good – and that was the end of that! Another career choice scratched off the list. So, I could totally relate to you and YD grooming Siddy, but your results are far better than mine. Just when I thought it was difficult grooming dogs, we had a lady visit the house a few months ago to groom Oscar – the CAT! Goodness me! Now that’s a tough way to earn a living!
    How precious is Siddy taking all his toys to the bath? So cute. What a gorgeous fellow. Thanks for the update. xoxoxoxox

    • I fully understand your career conundrum Dani! Groomers earn every cent they make in my opinion and I am happy to support them! They have been elevated up my list of unsung heroes to just below ‘good parenting’ 🙂

      YD is incredibly practical girl. She has the ability to see something, picture how it is done and then do it. [I can do the first two!] There are really only two mis-cuts on Siddy’s hair-do

      I cannot even imagine being a cat groomer – what a career choice!! Orlando would eat anybody who tried that on him. I only get to do it because I have always done it and there are treats at the end!

  22. My goodness you were brave to groom Siddy yourselves. The most I have ever done with Jack is to tidy up his eyebrows, and not successfully. And there is no way he would let me give him a bath…sigh…which is why he has a monthly appointment with groomer and why I can’t afford a haircut for myself! The things we do for love. 🙂 How deliciously funny to find him in the bath with his toys all lined up. Made my day seeing that.

    • The thought of doing anything around the eyes fills me with horror! He jerks his head around so strongly I have difficulty holding him still – I have no idea how groomers do the whole eye and eyebrow cleanup – that bit will just have to stay bushy til the end of February!

  23. I always take Max to a professional to be groomed – it takes about half the time and is worth every penny. He’s booked in to have a pre-festive season hair do in December (so he’s ready for any parties he might be invited to).
    I’m so glad to see Siddy enjoying life… what a splendid pup!

    So much to love and laugh over with this post, but my favorite part was seeing Siddy and his toys in the bath tub! How absolutely fabulous! So glad you got the picture as the story and the image will keep me smiling!

    • 🙂 I so wish I had a movie camera with this boy – there would be hours of fun-filled delight on You Tube!! Except of course, I would have no time to do anything else except record his antics! I can hear him now – he is lying in the tub and scratching furiously with his front paws on the porcelain – oh dear…….. and having written that he has just raced back into this room, grabbed a toy from his basket, shaken it vigorously and headed back up the hallway with it……..     You did a nice job on the haircut, but I’m with you: smart to book a professional grooming session and do so in advance.

    • This boy is an absolute honey! I got so lucky with him Alys – and he chose me too! I’m pretty sure had it been up to me I would have said no at the time. He really has livened things up here and gets me out and about far more than I used to.be. Even Orlando quite likes him 🙂 The toy lining up thing happens quite often, it is just something he does. And to see them and him in the bathtub was truly hilarious!

      Usually YD is on the other side of the camera, as Siddy’s official photographer. I’ll have to remember to take more shots myself 🙂

      • Of course he chose you. He’s no dummy! I love that he chose you and that you are so well suited for each other. Siddy is smart, sweet, clever, funny, and the perfect companion. He’s even won over Orlando, with you as a gentle and patient teacher.

  26. I found you through Nancy Hatch’s blog, she suggested I visit and I’m so glad I did. I love your blog after reading all about Siddy’s haircut! He looks very much like my little Poppy, a grey and white shih-tzu also, go have a look and compare. I think they would get along!

    • Hi Barb, thanks so much for coming by! I popped over and saw your Poppy. There is certainly a close resemblance! Siddy isn’t a purebred though – he is Shih-Tzu Maltese Terrier crossed with something else – the breeder thought a Lhasa Apso initially. But as he is bigger than any of those dogs, nobody is sure what daddy is any more. Currently my money is on a poodle as he is getting quite big and his legs are growing faster than anything else.

  27. I love Siddy. He is just a ball of furry fun, Eating one’s wicker toy chest is his way of telling you that anything wicker and on his level has a limited life span. He is a true little Darling. Mine, Yarn Rascal hates the water, He’d much prefer to rub himself in Pepy le Peu odour than bathe. I tell him he’s living like a wild doggie. But I will bathe and groom him next week so he can be fresh for the holidays.

    • I love Siddy too 🙂 You are so right about the wicker basket – he methodically chewed it to pieces over a period of three months. It was quite impressive to watch it dwindling in size. He now has one of those plasticky-rubbery things that I hope he won’t eat. I’m sorry that Yarn Rascal hates the water – that must make life difficult. I have to say that this is the first time I’ve had a dog that lines up for a bath – and since he learnt to get into the tub he spends quite a bit of time in there 🙂

  28. The best thing about pets is their personality! They all have one + it is moments like the pictures above!— where he is making sure his friends/toys are all lined up-lol To see him running out of the corner of your eye to put all his toys/friends in with him-priceless!!!!I It reminds me of a small child…if he is quiet, you better check-lol
    Everyone needs a pet like Siddy + Orlando! LIfe is more interesting + fun with furry roommates!!!!
    He looks like a stuffed animal you would purchase in a toy store—he is that perfect!
    Is he as soft as he looks???? I would be hugging him all the time-poor thing- he looks like a cuddle buddy to me:-)

    • He is as soft as he looks – especially when his coat has been trimmed. His fur is fine and soft and curly – he is looking more and more as if there is some poodle in the mix – and he loves to be cuddled and petted and made a fuss of. You would probably become his new BFF if you wandered over for a visit. He adores YD and hangs out waiting for her and goes into an absolute frenzy of delight when she appears! Even Orlando likes him, in small doses. They can be really sweet together until Siddy ruins it by getting too excited, usually ending with him jumping on the back of the poor cat.

      The lining up of toys is something he does quite often. You can stumble across a line in all kinds of odd places. I have no idea why.

      • He has you fooled-he really is part human! My oldest daughter, when she was a toddler would line up stones, or anything in rows…thought for sure she would be a bean counter-lol

I would bathe mine in between grooming and sometimes trim around the eyes and tail for sanitary reasons. That’s true love you know. Only a mother would do such a thing. The fact that he plays with the dryer is incredible as well. Thanks for the cheer.

    • Siddy can make a game out of anything Marlene – he is a dog on a mission and the mission appears to be ‘have fun!’ It can be exhausting – but he is so funny and so cute I am kept in a constant state of smiles! I’m glad he makes you smile too – just sharing the love 🙂

  30. I think you did a fabulous job with his haircut, but I’m sure it was nail-biting stuff. And LOL at him marching to the tub with muddy paws AND at his relocation of toys from basket to bathroom. What a sweet treat he is.

    • He is a complete hoot Nancy! He is pretty much always busy and very eager to please. He also knows when ‘treats’ are due for being ‘a good boy’. I think he keeps count. Thanks for sending Barbara over too, that was sweet!

  32. Lol, him in the bath with his toys is just the cutest thing Pauline, it gave me the giggles lol. The Bichon I used to have went to every groomer in Blenheim and nobody enjoyed the experience at all so I ended up spending hours myself over two days doing it, every 2 months. He was awful to groom. You both did a great job, mine never was that good 🙂

    • His hair grows so fast and I really like him looking neat – and you can tell he feels happier too so it’s going to be a bi-monthly expense I shall just have to become happy about. We were completely done-in at the end of it – the tension of making a wrong cut and/or maiming him was always a very real possibility!

      The ‘dangly’ is looking pretty good – I’m quite impressed with it 🙂

  33. I have been waiting for a Siddy fix and you didn’t disappoint, Pauline! Gosh! I just want to squeeze his little face and kiss those chubby paws whenever I see him. He looks so handsome with his cut. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos.

    • Siddy would love you Jill – you could hug and squeeze til the cows come home and he would still look for more – and then expect a ‘treat’ 🙂

      The goalfest is nearly complete, I just did another three hours on it and it’s about as done as it is going to get I think. I’ll see what I think in the morning.

  34. Oh you must have the cutest damn dog in the world!!(After mine of course, don’t look at me that way boys) How funny to put his toys in the bath! What a character 🙂 I think she did a great job of his clip. When we moved to our remote spot my first two thoughts were “how do I get a haircut” and “oh no how do my dogs get a clip…” I purchased a dog grooming kit and have been clipping them ever since. It takes me a while, with breaks built in for cups of tea and a stretch. I agree, they earn every cent! When we venture back to the big smoke I gladly hand them over to our clipper to “straighten them out”.
    Does your phone take photos? Much easier to take and carry.

    • Hi Kym, glad you enjoyed all his antics – yes, he has to be one of the cutest dogs ever, and so entertaining! I have a not-very-clever-phone. The one before ‘smart’. It takes photos but I have never hooked it up to the net and is therefore useless. I carry it for emergencies only. Therefore I have to remember the camera. Note to self, put camera by dog lead 🙂

      • Oh yes I only updated to a “smart” phone because my perfectly good old phone didn’t pick up the phone waves in this remote spot. Of course the ones that did were expensive, sigh, but a necessary thing to have when travelling over vast distances… good camera though, so that was a positive.
