In Which Siddy Has a Haircut

No posts for almost a month and then two in two days – nothing like variety to keep us on our toes!

Yesterday I mentioned that Siddy was at the groomers.  So many of you wanted to see the new look Siddy – were you one of them?  Well then, read on – or if you are pushed for time, just skip down to the pictures.

I wrote my last post while Siddy was away on a little adventure of his own.  I dropped him off at Mudpuppy at 12.30 with instructions to retrieve him at 4pm.  I was a tad concerned, this little guy is nearly always with me, or waiting in the car for me or with his favourite aunt………..

I felt like one of those overprotective, hovering mothers who were so bothersome when I was a teacher.

I needn’t have concerned myself!  My raggedy little fella disappeared off quite happily with his new best friend and I wandered off, noticing an odd absence besides me.

When last you saw Siddy, he looked like this

14 sept

Or, in a slightly more elegant pose

Our blogging buddy Boomdeeadda did something very clever with this photo on her iphone, but unfortunately I couldn’t copy it over to here – suffice to say Siddy began to speak English, with a slight Canadian accent, in a tone that sounded exactly like the one he would have if he could actually speak!

He’s such a cute little guy, his mouth is so expressive, but you rarely see his beautiful round black eyes.  He is a rotund, fast moving, joyful ball of energy with rippling waves of long hair.

Or he was.

At 4 pm I returned to Mudpuppy and the groomer came out holding a blindingly white pup in her arms.  For a brief moment I didn’t recognise my boy, then he leapt from her arms into mine and there he was –  all short hair, clean and sweet smelling and so very, very soft.

My puppy is very happy!

Haircut2

He is very happy to be out of his thick, long coat and now no longer simply jumps about the room – he flies!

Orlando is NOT pleased.  But he’ll get over himself soon enough.

I am very mindful of the fact that when you have a pup as happy as this one, so in the moment and so enchanted with every aspect of his life – some of it has to rub off on you.  Magic!!

Thanks for coming by today, I love that you did!

  1. Loving all your delicious Siddy photo’s (again?). I could have sworn I read this but maybe I thought I’d come back for a message. Good gosh, I’m very forgetful as of late.

Siddy might even need another haircut by now, I’m so tardy, LOL. I bet he feels like a bird being so light and fluffy. No wonder he’s flying around your home. HA, I wish I could see that. BTW, thanks for the shoot out Pauline 😀 xo I think the name of the groomers is fun. I’m always so amazed at how they manage dogs they’ve never met and are able to have them co-operate for a new hairdo. I can see how soft Siddy is all the way from here. The last photo with the happy smile is my favourite, but really how could one choose? The guys a star. Miss you Pauline. I’ve even been too busy for Bitstrip, that’s just wrong, LOL. xoxoxo

    • I’m not much on fb myself lately except for a new thing I’m caught up in – and you do seem to be incredibly busy – but having fun with all that creating I’m sure. It’s funny you mention Bitstrips, I was thinking of that the other day – I don’t think I made one over winter at all and I thought then that you were unusually absent in that area too!

Siddy is already looking ready for another trim of his fringe – or bangs as you guys say. I may have to learn how to hold him down so I can safely wield a pair of scissors close by his eyes [shudder]. xoxo

  3. Grooming makes a world of difference and makes the dog feels so much better as you have written here about Siddy. That is my observation of one of my dogs who is a poodle mix named Wally. But he loves to roll in the dirt. But yes, our pets are wonderful companions and lots of company. I never feel lonely because I have pets.

  6. Oh I’m so in love with Siddy. Everybody should have a Siddy. The world would be a much happier, gentler place if everyone had a Siddy. (I love Orlando too, obviously, but also a tiny bit intimidated by his supreme, disdainful dignity.)

  7. Magic indeed. What a soft, fluffy little boy. I can picture him jumping into your arms, so happy to see you, all clean and wonderful smelling.

So nice to see all these wonderful photos, Pauline. They make me smile.

  8. Everyone loves a dog and a really cute dog just melts us all into a puddle. I LOVE how he looks with the hair away from his eyes. I used to always keep my dogs eyes clear of hair. Had to see those eyes. So expressive! It’s like their soul speaks through them and they want to see your face because that’s how they read you, just like a baby. I had my dog groomed every 6 to 8 weeks because she always came home soft and sweet. If I saw a Siddy on the street, I’d have to abscond with him. Hold on tight. Dogs, like babies, teach us to stay in the moment with pure joy. It doesn’t get much better. You have every right to be proud and joyful. 🙂

    • Thanks Marlene 🙂 You are right I learn so much from watching him and being with him. I love it when you talk about your past animals – you obviously have the right touch and feeling for them – are you sure you wouldn’t get a pet again?

      • Maybe sometime later but the work I have on my plate now is already overwhelming. I can’t add one more thing. I may think of rescuing an older dog if I get one or even a cat. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities, just not in the immediate future. I get my fix of dog and cat love from those that find me for a few moments. Yours makes me want one so much though. 🙂

  9. Pauline, Siddy really does look like a changed dog! He is adorable! My Mom’s Shih Tzu has hair that really grows fast! When I cut it and trim around her eyes, Nicki is so cute and really liked being groomed. She takes her to a professional sometimes, too.

    • I think I am going to feather out that fringe [you call it a bang] t’s a bit too pudding basin for my liking 🙂 I’m hearing that their hair grows at a fast rate so I guess we will become regulars at the groomers. I would be too scared to try cutting it myself, Siddy is so wriggly!

      • Younger dogs need to go to groomers, my Mom’s dog is much more calm as the years have gone by… She is now 12 going on 13 years old. She likes to have her toes and back trimmed, but she needs to relax, adjusting to these ‘affronts’ to her hair. So, I do her eyes last. I like the idea of calling that area, “fringe!” Smiles!

        • I can see it takes a while to get them used to being handled and groomed – and I can appreciate Siddy will need to go regularly – the poor boy looked like a Yeti for his first few months of life!

          • The thought of your dog looking like a Yeti, that is so funny! I am heading shortly from the library to Mom’s and will see if I need to sit on the bathroom floor and trim. Oh, I use these little scissors, so that it is easier to not ‘poke’ her and Nicki likes the finished project, Pauline! She jumps around and almost dances, up and down on the sofa, which she normally never gets up there. She is really lively, like she is saying, “Thanks for helping me get this weight off of me, allowing me to see better, too!” I will be gone for 9 days but it seems like I packed a ton of stuff. Seasons changing and confusing whether to pack light or heavy clothing! smiles and thanks for your sweet comments, too! Enjoy your weekend, Pauline!

            • That was a great hint – we just got the tiny scissors and feathered up that straight across fringe – now he looks much better and still has both eyes! Hope your trip away is fun and restful!

  10. He was cute to start out, but his makeover has brought out his beauty. Dogs just to seem to already be magic, don’t they? (I have cats, but I am learning about dog magic from my grand-dog.)

    • Siddy is my first dog in more than 20 years Robin – but I always have at least one cat. The energy is very different – but as you can probably tell, I am totally besotted with this little fellow! [I adore my beautiful cat also!]

  11. Magic indeed Ms Pauline…are you sure that is Siddy?! Earl says he can’t recognise him and is suspicious that they found the original task too difficult and just headed off to the local breeders and substituted a new Sudi…but then Earl is ever suspicious, it is what keeps him repeat peeing on all of the fruit trees in his new domain just in case something else has claimed them in the last 2 minutes since he last peed on them. Whoever that delightful fluff ball is (Earl says “IMPUZTA!”) he has Robert Downey Juniors eyes so I would keep him 😉

    • I kind of understand where Earl is coming from – I didn’t recognise him at first and had to stand back several times to take a good long look. If it wasn’t for the joyful greeting I would also be accusing the groomer of substitution! But yes, you are RIGHT! RDJ’s eyes. If he was dead I’d swear Siddy was his reincarnation 😉 He has the same devil may care persona and sense of humour…. Oh happy day!!

    • Don’t do it straight across like his though – my fingers are itching to get the scissors and put some texture into that fringe! [We call it a fringe here. I have never understood where ‘bangs’ comes from, do you know?]

    • It has never occurred to me that a pup would appreciate getting a hair cut – but I think you are right. Siddy just sits and smiles and loves all the extra hand rubs he is getting – I can’t help myself his coat feels so soft and lovely 🙂 I hope you will put a pic of Max up on your blog – I really want to see him!

  13. Siddy looks just Pawsome, Pauline. He is one of the cutest little fellows I’ve ever seen…oh, and how we wished we could hear him talk 😀 Maybe Orlando wants a new look too. Tell him he is beautiful like he is and that he doesn’t have to change anything 🙂 I have to go now..do my business, you know 😉 Pawkisses for a magical day 🙂 ❤
