No, it’s not me becoming a geek – it’s just me entering into the fun with Will and Tom over at TechnoteamBlog.
Will asked me if I thought it would be fun to have a quiz challenge and I said yes – never dreaming that it would be then sent directly to me to do in front of all my blogging pals – most of whom are notably more technologically advanced than me….. I am the woman who still doesn’t own a very clever phone for goodness sake!
Here is what Will says:
This award is intended to teach people what common tech terms mean, while seeing what guesses people think of! The challenge is to simply get all of the questions correct.
The Computing Challenge rules
- Don’t use Google to find the answer to a question – that ruins the fun!
- Don’t ask anyone to be nominated for the challenge.
- I don’t know isn’t an answer!
- Have fun and remember that this isn’t a serious test!
What do I do if I get nominated for the challenge?
- Acknowledge and thank the person(s) who nominated you for the challenge. Thank you Will 🙂
- Make a post with the following: The challenge rules, [these are them] questions asked by the person who you were nominated by and your answers to them [below], your view on technology [it’s mostly very handy – sometimes quite frustrating!] and the 2 people you nominated for the challenge with a link to their blogs/websites. [Below] Remember to add the tag “The Computing Challenge” to your post.
- Go onto your nominated blogs/websites and comment on one of their posts or pages with something on the lines of “I have nominated you for The Computing Challenge by TechnoTeamBlog.” You should provide a link back to either this post or the post you’ve wrote so they know what to do.
- Leave a comment on this post with a link to the post you wrote for the challenge and I’ll send you a logo with your challenge score to put on your blog/website.
10 Questions to answer for the challenge
- What does VIoP stand for? Will – you spelled it wrong! It’s VoIP Voice over internet protocol – I know because I learned it last week from you. 🙂
- What is Heartbleed? A particularly nasty virus apparently accidentally released by someone who should have known better – that has caused us all to have to change our passwords on a million different internet accounts because they became vulnerable to hackers [Thank heavens I read about that on fb! :-)]
- Name at least one email client. Windows Live Mail – or if that isn’t right, me,
- Name at least one part of a computer Hard Drive 🙂
- What’s Valve’s Steam? An overheated conductor leading to melt-down of an ios
- What does OMG stand for? Well, I know it’s ‘Oh My God’ ? But this is about technology so it must be something else – maybe Operating Mystery [or Mini] Game?
- When was the first Apple iPhone announced? I don’t know isn’t allowed so my guess is 2003
- What is Google Chrome and Firefox? Search Engines?
- Is a keyboard an input or output device on computers? Input
- The Nano and Touch is from what technology range by Apple? Phones
I have no idea how many I got right – but it seemed pretty straight forward………. except for #5 which I don’t know the answer to and have never even heard of before!
I’m only nominating one person to play – because I think she might quite enjoy it – so hereby I nominate:
But if you dear reader would like to make my super-dooper technoteamblog boys happy – and get me out of a tight spot 😉 please do wander on over and leave Will a comment and ask to play also – tell him I sent you. I think he should make you a new set of questions because I am sure I have given [nearly] all the correct answers here already!
Now I’m just waiting to find out how I did…………..
How do you think I did?
Thanks for stopping by today, I’m so pleased that you did 🙂

Now if you had been “Contented Crafter” rather than “THE Contented Crafter” I would have been here last month and everything would have been hunky dory. As it was Linnie must have nominated me for this quiz when I thought that she was just “being funny” and I made up some VERY silly answers as I don’t do quizzes (and she knows it) and apparently Mr Tom and his cohorts actually read my very silly answers and thought that I was a complete and utter numpty noob ;). Serves me right for being silly eh? Anyhoo, I got about half a percent for my silly answers so that means that by comparison I made you look like a shining star in the technological world. I brought down the grade curve which made you look AMAZING. Thank me later…and by the way “I’m BAAACCCCKKK!” 😉

Thank you 🙂 I shall pop over and see if I can find your silly answers. Always appreciate being allowed to shine 🙂 Welcome back!!

You are welcome. My answers are most probably the ones with “moron’s award” tacked onto the bottom of them. The worst bit is that Tom (whatever “his” real name is) actually thought that I was for real with my answers and I felt the interweb equivalent of a pat on the (poor denuded old) head from a distance and that techie sympathy (or maybe it was glee at a prospective new client?!!! 😉 ) that makes one feel SO lame and inadequate. I hurried to assure him that I wasn’t THAT numpty but I don’t think he believed me 😉

I bow to your esteem wisdom and knowledge. Looks like you took them to school. I have very sketchy techno skill. I learn ‘as required’ and then forget it as quickly as I’ve learned it. I’m a perpetual student when involves SW programs. Since it changes practically every 6 months, that works out well. 😀

I got a mere 60% score – not that great at all! All my techie knowledge comes from having had things happen and then having to sort ’em out as best I can. Mostly my YD teaches me 🙂

LOL The answers are funny, Pauline. That must have been so much fun 🙂 Pawkisses and good luck with the challenge…oh, and say hello to Orlando 🙂

I tried to post a few days ago on this post + our system was moving slowly…too many storms running through. I got sick with the flu + now and trying to stop by and catch up. I admire your ability to learn all this stuff…I do learn some, but some days my brain just moves too slowy + I just “use” it and hope it never bites me back-lol

And yet I know very little – as my score of 60% shows – so there is no hope for you Robbie! 🙂
I knew you were mia and was hoping it was because you were so busy playing in the soil and taking photos of rapidly growing ornamentals and edibles to come in side and read blog posts.
But, you got the flu! You got all the way through that long, harsh winter and then you got tripped up by the dreaded Spring Lurgy! I do hope that cleans out your system for the year and you will be ready to garden no matter the weather for another round of seasons………
Big cyber hugs for health and well-being zooming your away across an ocean and most of a continent xoxo

🙂 You got most right, 6 out of 10, not bad but know I know that I can be evil (Just putting Steam in stead of putting Valve’s Steam)
Chrome and Firefox are browsers, and good ones at that!
Steam, like Tom said above, is a little shop for downloadable PC games – most of which are by indie devolpers.
The first iPhone was announced and released in 2007 (I think) And the Nano and Touch are part of Apple’s iPod range.
You’ve also won the FIRST CHOMMENT award (typo intended) for being one of the first people to do the computer challenge – also tell Linnie that I’ll be making another set of questions!
I’ll be sending the little pic soon 🙂

6/10 is not ‘most’ Will – it’s only 60%! But better than I expected to do really – and geez, I knew they were browsers and got my terminologies mixed up!! Did I get omg right- was that a trick question?

It looks like OMG was a trick question.
Have you received the badge with your score to put on your blog?

OMG was correct, because I was planning to do something like OTP (bonus point for guessing that) but I put OMG instead.

60% correct. Say it with conviction even if it’s a load of rubbish! I could make a good politician! 🙂

I wouldn’t say that 6/10 was rubbish. You should give us a challenge on art or something like that. That would be interesting.

You are a great sport for playing a game you don’t know much about. I would lose miserably and I have a smart phone. (obviously smarter than I am). It would be fun to take all those words and make some kind of weird story out of them. Bet Jackie at “To Breathe is to Write” could do it and make a murder mystery out of it. That kind of what I felt like at the end of the questions. :)) Hats off to you brave lady.

Happy Friday, Pauline!
This looks like a fun challenge, but I won’t hop over to Will’s blog and ask to play:) He might give me hard questions! I don’t know the OMG tech question either. Valve’s steam makes me think of a tire with a loose valve on a hot day:-)

That valve’s steam question has me completely stumped – neither of those two words make any sense when connected with modern technology do they! I didn’t even get to ‘tyres’ in my thinking – well done you for that one!!

Yeah. I can give you a clue: Valve’s Steam is software and has something to do with gaming.
