Near The Sea – Art Journal Page

Hello there bloggie friends!

Twice in my life I have lived in a house right beside the sea. Β Both times I have grown to be more of myself, fed and healed by the salt air, the sights and scents and vitality of the great Pacific Ocean.

There is a yearning in me to live within the sight and sound of the ocean again.

This page is my love song to my cottage by sea.

I started by laying down some serviettes with an ocean theme, then I started painting – the serviettes all but disappeared – leaving only slight texture and a few wrinkles πŸ™‚

So basically this page is done with acrylic paints, charcoal and a Pitt pen or two.

Thanks for coming by and taking a peek – I love that you did! Β πŸ™‚

  1. Just beautiful!! I grew up by the sea in the west coast of Ireland, and have never since been able to live far from the coast. It really is magical, as you have captured in this post. : )))

  2. I’m really envious that you’ve lived by the sea. This is our dream for retirement. I love to be near water, on water, in the water. It just makes life calm for me. Look at your happy cottages with their smiling faces and happy windows peeping back. I really love how you’ve made faces of their facades. The pink noses are wonderful! You’re lettering in the quote looks perfect too, I can’t wait to get more handy with my new pencils, you’re a talent!

    • Apologies Boomdee – somehow I missed answering your message yesterday 😦
Thank you for taking the time to look so closely at the page – it is so nice to have your feedback! ‘Fessing up though – the lettering is not me – it’s a stamp πŸ™‚ I don’t think I shall ever get that neat and tidy -just don’t have the eye for it! I’m taking this page as inspiration for my first canvas in years – hoping something interesting turns up at the end of the process…….. must take photos – must take photos …. πŸ™‚

  3. What a happy piece of art, Pauline. Your love of the sea (and your talent with a brush), both shine through. I love the way the serviette adds texture, much like a canvas would. I’m amazed that it didn’t dissolve away, but remained to add character.

Nicely done. I’m so glad to be catching up today.
